Assembly Line Optimization Using MTM Time Standard and Simulation Modeling—A Case Study

This study presents an approach to solving the assembly line balancing problem (ALBP) using Methods-Time Measurement (MTM) time standard and simulation software. ALBP is a common in manufacturing where set of tasks with fixed times must be assigned series sequential workstations order minimize total idle reduce cost per product. uses MTM, widely used production process scheduling method, create new analysis that was previously balanced Work-Factor method study. literature review shows there are lack combinations updated analyses newer approaches current literature, this motivation for present work. An performed Simio software evaluate different design options operating scenarios. The results show use MTM can help improve performance, thereby reducing costs increasing efficiency. effective useful tool companies performance their lines costs.
